How did you attract/ address your audience?
As our target audience is young adults/teenagers we decided that a horror/psychological thriller would be best to draw in that type of audience. As we established a young audience we tried to make our opening sequence seem very dark and mysterious with the use of black and white credits and we filmed the main sequence of the girl being chased in the rain on a dark and cold day. For example the tunnel scene is filmed in a dark space which gave the film a cold and dreary feel which clearly represents the sadness and fear the main character played by Mariam was feeling. The dark music also gives the film a spooky feel we thought would appeal to a young audience. This dark music contrasted with a fast paced music for the initial chase scene we feel contrasts nicely and brings the opening sequence alive so it doesn’t become to slow or boring but still creates a tense atmosphere. We kept an up to date modern feel with the use of clothing and landscapes and the plain white room we filmed the police interview in the as the film was set in 2009. We also feel the fade outs help represent the confusion and memory relapses the girl is experiencing as she is being interviewed by the police. We hoped that this would create interest and suspense for the audience.
